The Art of Journalism Storytelling

During the presentation, Aaron Rasheed, a local journalist, will highlight:

• The different types of journalist fields.
• The steps in becoming a full-time and freelance journalist.Outline the steps in creating a story.

• How to pitch news stories for newspapers, magazines, and broadcasting.
• How AI has changed the journalism environment.

About the Presenter:

Aaron Rasheed is a local journalist and veteran. He served in the Marine Corps infantry for 12 years. After the military, he moved to Bend, OR, and reinvented himself as a writer, majoring in English literature/journalism at Central Oregon Community College and OSU-Cascades.

Aaron has worked for several news outlets, including The Broadside Newspaper, Bend Bulletin, Go Magazine, Bend Magazine, Visit Bend, and The Library of Congress Veteran History Project. He also has a Journalism Podcast called “Journalistika,” which will be released on August 5th, 2025, on Spotify and Apple Podcast.
