Your Own Story – Kids’ Self-Portrait Collages at BJCC
January 3, 2024 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Unleash your creativity and self-expression with mixed media self-portraits!
Registration is required. This workshop is intended for children ages 6 – 12, and all children must be accompanied by a caregiver (caregivers are welcome to assist in the craft).
The self-portrait is an important part of any artist’s practice, as it is how we portray ourselves to the world. There are many different ways we can represent ourselves. In this workshop, we will learn how to create mixed media self-portraits inspired by the work of contemporary artist Alejandro Macias. We will think about how things like place, colors, and patterns can represent who we are, and we will incorporate these ideas into our work.
Registered participants will need to bring an 8.5 x 11 printed photo of themselves, or email a photo prior to the program to email@example.com for printing. These photos can be in black and white or color, and can range in quality. See image below for an example of how we will incorporate these photos.
