Writers Working – How to Create and Run an Author Event

Learn the ins and outs of author events from the events manager at Roundabout Books. We’ll discuss strategies for pitching to bookstores, promoting events, and best practices for what to do during the event.

Julie Swearingen is the owner of Quail Run Editorial and has edited more than 40 books in the memoir, fiction, young adult, historical romance, and nonfiction genres, and is currently the events manager at Roundabout Books in Bend. She is a member of the Central Oregon Writers Guild, Northwest Editors Guild, and ACES: The Society for Editing. Her portfolio is available at www.quailrun.co.

Central Oregon Writers Guild’s mission is to provide Central Oregon area writers a forum for mutual support and education through meetings, annual events and workshops. Our goal is to advance growth and success for individual writers of all genres and skill levels. Founded in 2002, the Guild is a non-profit organization, run entirely by volunteers.
