January 8, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
This presentation is an “Introduction to Numismatics.” It will briefly touch upon all the following topics:
- What is Numismatics?
- What type of items can I collect, and where can I find them?
- How do I organize, store and care for numismatic items?
- Do I need to have items authenticated or graded?
- What’s it worth, and how do I sell (including estates)?
- How can I learn more (including hobby associations)?
- How can I become more involved (includes numismatic exhibits)?
Following the approximately 45-minute presentation, there will be time for questions. All are welcome to attend monthly club meetings in Bend to learn more and share the hobby with other collectors.
Biography:
Eric Holcomb has been a numismatist, primarily as a collector, for over 50 years. In recent years he has specialized in medals, such as those commemorating the space program, but his experience spans U.S. and world coins, paper money, tokens and other facets of the hobby. He has served several local coin clubs, most recently as president and webmaster of the Bend Coin Club of Central Oregon. He is editor and webmaster of the Pacific Northwest Numismatic Association (PNNA), and editor of the club representative newsletter MintMark for the American Numismatic Association (ANA). He is a life member of both the PNNA and the ANA and has won awards from both organizations. He is also active in collector exhibiting, both as an exhibitor and judge.
