The Joy of Flash at Becky Johnson Community Center

Learn how short writing can jumpstart your creative practice.

Registration is required.

Ever feel stuck in your writing? Looking for creative inspiration? In this workshop, we will read and write several pieces of flash fiction as a way to loosen up your creative muscle, get ideas on the page quickly, and find the spark in your writing. This workshop is for new and experienced writers.

Miriam Gershow is the author of Survival Tips: Stories (Propeller Books) and the forthcoming novel, Closer (Regal House, 2025). Her debut novel, The Local News (Spiegel & Grau), was hailed as “unusually credible and precise” and “deftly heartbreaking” by The New York Times. Her flash fiction appears in anthologies from Alan Squire BooksAlternating Currents and the forthcoming Fractured Lit Anthology 4, as well as in Pithead ChapelHad, and Variant Lit, where she is the inaugural winner of the Pizza Prize.
