    • What’s the best fit for your backyard? Egg-layers, dual-purpose birds, or meat birds? We’ll guide you through selecting breeds that thrive in Central Oregon’s climate and suit your flock goals.
  • Create a Coop That Clucks
    • Building a chicken home is more than hammering some wood together! Learn to design and maintain a coop and run that’s safe, comfortable, and weather-ready.
  • Flock Health 101
    • From preventing common ailments to managing your chickens’ needs through the seasons, get the basics of keeping your flock healthy and happy year-round.

Workshop Leaders:

Shannon Kane

Shannon Kane owns Wild Grown Farm and has over a decade of experience growing edible nursery stock commercially. A permaculture and regenerative agriculture expert, Shannon and her family operate a thriving pastured poultry farm and edible plant nursery in Central Oregon.

Taylor Kane

Taylor Kane is a direct to consumer pastured poultry farmer in Redmond, Oregon. He raises a diverse array of poultry including chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese. His background as a high-level athlete and coach led to his desire to raise the most nutrient-dense and ethically raised protein for his community. Taylor holds an MBA and is passionate about building truly sustainable businesses.

School of Ranch is a Central Oregon based 501c3 nonprofit.  They hire experienced locals to teach practical homestead skills, live and in person.  Beyond teaching skills and creating paying gigs, they help strengthen our community by providing common ground for people regardless of politics, background, age or beliefs.
