Predators of Central Oregon, Metolius Preserve

June 8, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Join Gary ‘Gus’ Gustafson to learn more about the predators of Central Oregon while hiking the Metolius Preserve.

Want to learn more about the many predators found in Central Oregon? Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Gary “Gus” Gustafson to explore the world of predators—bobcat, cougar, fox, coyote, wolf, black bear, and more. Gus will help you learn more about their habitat, feeding preferences and techniques, reproductive behavior, and interactions with people. While it’s extremely unlikely that any predators will be seen during the hike, Gus will help you to become more aware of the clues wildlife leave behind during their daily activities. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.

Hike Rating: This is a moderate ~3 mile hike on Metolius Preserve hiking trails.
Route: This hike will start at the South Trailhead of the Metolius Preserve and follow Preserve trails. Terrain will be uneven at times.
Elevation gain/loss: There is very little elevation gain/loss on this hike.

What to Bring: Snacks/lunch, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.

Accessibility: The Land Trust is working to make our Walks + Hikes as accessible as possible. Please email us at event@deschuteslandtrust.org at least one week in advance if there is something we can do or provide to support you in participating in this outing to the fullest and we will accommodate as possible.
