Oregon Archaeology Road Show

In celebration of National Historic Preservation Month, The Deschutes County Historical Society and Museum is excited to offer the 11th Annual Oregon Archaeology Road Show! This year’s theme is The Archaeology of Transportation. There will be hands-on archaeology exhibits, activities, and demonstrations from agencies, tribal members, and archaeologists from around the state. Try your hand at throwing a replica atlal and dart (aka spear-thrower and spear), learn about tools that predate 9000 years ago, and explore some of Oregon’s historical travel routes like the Hunting Road, Elliot Wagon Road, and the Canyon City Road. The event is free and family-friendly, museum admission is free for the day.
