Natural History Pub: Measuring Snow for Water Resources

March 6, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free, registration required.

Runoff from snowmelt provides 50-70% of the West’s water resources. Since 1935, the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s (NRCS) Snow Survey and Water Supply Forecasting Program has measured snowpack to develop reliable water forecasts using data from 900+ automated stations and 1,000+ manually measured snow courses. Please join Matt Warbritton, lead hydrologist for the NRCS Oregon Snow Survey, to learn about the critical work of snowpack monitoring.

Doors open at 5:30 pm

FREE, registration required.
