Memorial Day at Bend Heroes Memorial

To honor Bend’s veterans who made the supreme sacrifice during wars since WWI, Bend Heroes Foundation and volunteers will display over 250 American flags at Bend Heroes Memorial in Brooks Park, along Veterans Memorial Bridge, Newport Ave., Wall St., and Bond St. and interconnecting streets. Each flag was flown over the United States Capitol and bears the name of a veteran stitched on it. Boy Scout Troop 25 has the honor of leading the event as it has for the last 17 years.

A short ceremony will be held at Bend Heroes Memorial to read the names of Bend’s 112 fallen veterans from all wars and a proclamation issued by President Biden. Flags will be retrieved at 4:00 pm.

The event is free and begins promptly at the Memorial at 7:00 am. The public is invited to help install flags.
