Hear about plans for including the community in creating art for the Sunriver Library.
Sapata and Santigie Fofana-Dura invite the Deschutes county community to an Artist Talk where they will present on their artistic practice, show examples of past projects, and invite the community to participate in their latest endeavor, the Sunriver Public Library outdoor sculpture.
Sapata and Santigie Fofana-Dura were born and raised in Oregon, specifically in a small town in the Willamette Valley. Their ideas and designs are influenced by the aesthetics of the Pacific Northwest and a central focus with all of their work is to create thee quintessential “Shrine.”
The artist’s primary medium is reclaimed lumber as well as metal and other salvaged building materials. Using ancient, classic and modern construction techniques allows these artist to create visual ideas conjured up from an unconscious realm commonly referred to as the “Dream World”. They create architectural sculpture which aims to submerge the viewer into familiar yet unseen realities empowering all who bear witness to take a new steps towards embracing aspects their own subconscious imagination.
