LeeAnn Kriegh to Speak at Birders’ Night

Most people stop learning about caterpillars in grade school — which is
a shame, since caterpillars play an outsized role in the environment.
On April 9, local author LeeAnn Kriegh will speak at the East Cascades
Bird Alliance (ECBA) Birders’ Night about caterpillars, why they are a
critical food source for birds, and how we can “grow” more of the larval
marvels in our yards.
LeeAnn is a writer and nature lover who has combined her passions to create
two full-color nature guides, The Nature of Bend and The Nature of Portland
(www.NatureofBooks.com). Her books, sold in area bookstores, present
interesting facts and stories behind the hundreds of species that make
Central Oregon and the Portland areas beautiful places to both live and
visit.
LeeAnn will sell and sign books before and after the program, which will
take place Thursday evening, April 9, at 6:00 PM, Eastside Worthy Brewing
(Hop Mahal Room), 495 NE Bellevue Drive, in Bend. Many arrive early to
eat and socialize prior to the program.
Birders’ Night programs are free and open to the public. Seating is on a
a first-arrival basis.
