Know Stories: Travel Journaling Workshop
January 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Learn to record your travels by sketching your experience. Beginners welcome!
The best memories of your vacation are not the things you bought or even the photos you took but the art work in your sketchbook. By slowing down and drawing your surroundings you will take in more and remember more of what is going on around you than a simple photo will ever convey. The first steps in creating that amazing sketchbook is getting started. Over coming the fear of sketching in public is a leap. Realizing that observers are in awe of what you are doing is huge.
We will cover overcoming the fear and inner critic that likes to hold us back from sketching in public or even making a mark on the first page! Then we will go over materials, styles, techniques for travel journaling. Wrap up will include choosing subjects that speak to you and that are memorable along with adding in text to round out your journal.
Lee Kellogg Bio
Outdoors is where Lee Kellogg would rather be just about any day and anytime. Sketchbook in hand, she records the world around her. A bird watcher from a young age, Lee has long been interested in the natural world around us. From working summer camp as a teen to the Adult Education Coordinator at the Audubon Society of Portland to owning a retail business focused on art and craft, Lee has had much experience that all focuses on her love of the outdoors and art. Inspiring others to be creative and become aware of the world around them is part of her mission when she teaches.
