Know Stories – Tall Annie: A Life in Two Genders

January 21 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Author Anne Graham shares her story.

This is an in-person program.

Anne Graham, a local author and former Redmond City Councilor, lived the first 46 years of her life in a male role, hiding a life-long sense of being in the wrong gender. Her autobiography shares the repression that was necessary to survive back then and finally the joy of becoming the person she had been denied in 1996. It is a story of a carefully managed transition bounded on both sides by a high level of contribution to society in both genders. Anne hopes that sharing the real lived experience of her life in this book will help dispel some of the misinformation around a life such as hers.

Anne Graham had a professional career in both genders in the semiconductor and solar industries and successfully transitioned her gender in mid-life while in a senior role for a major corporation. She has been a U.S. Navy nuclear-trained submariner, Vietnam Veteran, Facilities Engineer, Director of Facilities, semiconductor factory designer, and a local politician with attendant international experiences including two years living in China.

She now lives in Central Oregon with her husband where people who love mountains and wish to avoid Oregon’s famous rain reside. With the need to record her unique life completed, she is focusing on giving back to society for the bounty she has received from it.
