Know Flora & Fauna – Nature Journaling for Beginners

May 7, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Learn how to record and sketch the world around you.

Registration is required.  Register here.

What To Expect
Curiosity, wonder, attention all are part of nature journaling. In this workshop, Lee Kellogg will introduce you to the three elements that all of us have inside of us that makes nature journaling so fun. Explore the natural world around the library as you learn how to record and sketch, then around your home afterwards. As you gain confidence venture into the near by forests or lakes to expand your skills.

Basic skills of drawing, question asking and observing will be covered. No drawing skills needed!  Materials for getting started will be provided and you will leave with a small nature journal to continue your work. Nature Journaling is accessible to anyone, at any age and ability. Time and weather permitting we will spend some time outside practicing our new skills.

Lee Kellogg
Outdoors is where Lee Kellogg would rather be just about any day and anytime. Sketchbook in hand, she records the world around her. A bird watcher from a young age, Lee has long been interested in the natural world around us. From working summer camp as a teen to the Adult Education Coordinator at the Audubon Society of Portland to owning a retail business focused on art and craft, Lee has had much experience that all focuses on her love of the outdoors and art. Inspiring others to be creative and become aware of the world around them is part of her mission when she teaches.
