Gather:Make:Shelter – The Monograph Tour

August 23 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Free

Witness the beauty, complexity, and depth of stories seldom told about navigating houselessness.

The Monograph Tour features the works of Gather:Make:Shelter artists who reimagine what it means to be an artist and community member. In tandem with their completed creative work, featured artists will speak publicly about the power of creating amidst their experience with houselessness. The Monograph Tour serves as a dialogue that redefines the idea of home across Oregon and elsewhere.

The Monograph Tour is a movement, a platform for voices often unheard. Through art and storytelling, our participants—who have lived through the challenges of houselessness—will connect with audiences, offering new perspectives on what it means to create while navigating the harsh realities of life on the streets.

This event invites you to witness the beauty, complexity, and depth of stories that are seldom told. Each piece is an invitation to engage with the artist’s journey, to see beyond the canvas, and to listen to the narratives that have shaped their work. As our artists take their stories on the road, we celebrate a movement that will challenge perceptions, foster empathy, and ignite conversations about the intersections of art, housing, and humanity.

We welcome you to join us in honoring these artists, their courage, and their creativity. Their work is not just art; it is a call to action, a reminder of the dignity and potential within us all. Together, let us embark on this journey of connection, understanding, and change.

About Gather:Make:Shelter

Gather:Make:Shelter was founded in 2017 to create a collaborative model of engagement connecting people experiencing houselessness and poverty to creative opportunities. Intended as a year-long project by artist and activist Dana Lynn Louis, with the fervent support of the Portland community it quickly took on a life of its own. Today we are a 501(c)3 organization continuing to grow through the combined passion and imagination of our community.
