Flag Retirement Ceremony at Prineville Western Days

On Friday June 24, Aidan Goldman, of Scouts BSA Troop 9021, will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony at the Prineville Western Days event, as his Eagle Scout rank project. This ceremony, as sanctioned by the US. Congress, is the respectful burning of the flag when it is no longer fit for service. The flag is carried forward, displayed, saluted, and then retired. The flag retirement event will be from 4:00-6:00pm on June 24th. The event will be located at the corner of 4th St and Fairview St, next to the swim center, in Prineville.
“I am very excited to provide this important and respectful service for our Central Oregon Community as my Eagle Scout Project,” said Aidan Goldman.
The public is welcome, and encouraged, to bring any US. Flag in need of retirement. Flags in need of retirement should be placed in the drop box at Scouts BSA booth at Prineville Western Days. The dropped off flags will be retired in the appropriate and respectful manner. Thank you for your support.
