This presentation will delve into the main topics of estate planning that Collin Edmonds most often discusses with his clients: Wills, trusts, probate, powers of attorney and advance directives. He will discuss the differences between wills and trusts, the upsides and downsides of each, the myths and misconceptions he often hears about them and other estate planning topics. He will discuss what probate is, different ways to avoid probate if need be and what to expect if there is a probate. He will also talk about what powers of attorney and advance directives are, who may need them and why they are important. By the end of the presentation, everyone should have a good starting point on what kind of estate planning documents they may want to pursue in their own lives.
Collin Edmonds is an attorney who runs his own law practice and meets clients in Bend, Redmond and Prineville. Collin’s practice primarily focuses on issues involving protective proceedings such as conservatorships and guardianships, powers of attorney, probate administration and drafting wills and trusts. He has been practicing law for over five years in Central Oregon. Collin was born and raised in Prineville and now he lives in Redmond with his wife and two children. Collin is also on the board of directors for the Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon and is a committee member for Access to Justice which works on programs like Lawyer in the Library.
