Bird Walk, Metolius Preserve

FreeJoin the Deschutes Land Trust and Aaron Jenkins for a spring bird walk around the Metolius Preserve. Explore the world of forest birds which challenges you to watch and listen. Hike through ponderosa pine and larch forests while listening for the knocking of woodpeckers and the calls of songbirds. Scan the Preserve’s snags for signs of nesting and foraging. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.
Hike Rating: This is an easy 2-3 mile hike on Preserve trails.
Route: This hike will start at the North Trailhead of the Metolius Preserve and follow Preserve trails. Terrain will be uneven at times.
Elevation gain/loss: There is very little elevation gain/loss on this hike.
What to Bring: Binoculars (if you have them), snacks, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.
