Award-Winning Local Poets Offer Dual Book Launch

March 18, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Two local poets, Pamela Mitchell and Broderick Eaton, will read and then sit for an interview by
Oregon Book Award nominee Carol Barrett. Time for conversation and book signing will follow.
This free event will take place at Dudley’s Bookshop Cafe on Saturday, March 18, from 2:00pm
to 4:00pm.
Mitchell is a long-time Bend resident who recently retired from a career in nursing. Her poetry
explores the human body and its connection to nature, and her book was awarded second
place for the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award.
Eaton is a Bend native and is the recipient of the Sixfold Poetry Prize, the Orison Books
Anthology Non-Fiction Prize, the Scribes Valley Fiction Prize, and first place in the Source/OSU
Cascades annual poetry contest. Her work inspects nature and how the human experience fits
into it.
“This emerging poet is one to pay attention to,” says author Ellen Waterston of Eaton’s work.
“Creating intimacy with the reader through unique imagery drawn from her close scrutiny of
the natural world, she takes risks not only in the phrasing and formatting of her poems, but also
in her carefully embroidered approach to the expression of love and loss.”
Both books will be available for purchase at the event.
