Activating Resilience: A Focus on the 40 Program

April 17 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Our accumulated experiences play into our resilience and when we “bounce back” from adverse experiences, mistakes, setbacks and failures we can grow stronger. Fortunately, resilience also has been well-studied and can be strengthened without those pesky negative experiences.

Several psychological factors of resilience can be actively built to deepen our capacity for handling adverse situations. Developing additional resilience capacity allows us to navigate these moments without losing our cognitive skills.

During this session we’ll cover the following in a fun and interactive virtual program:

1. Negativity is a natural bias in humans and this “survival mindset” serves a purpose but change, challenges and chaos can trigger this “survival mindset” impacting our cognitive abilities, performance and relationships.

2. Resilience has 5 primary building blocks which are built through lived experience and through the challenges overcome in our careers and lives. Resilience can also be taught and strengthened to help us navigate change, challenges and chaos.

3. Trust is critical to anything we hope to achieve in groups and this foundation of trust is built through individual action, in the collective actions of units and through cultural norms we establish on purpose or even unintentionally.
