Roma non basta una vita. Rome – a lifetime is not enough. Around every corner of Rome is a great artwork, a funny story, or a mystery. Through this presentation, we visit some of the famous, not so famous, and downright obscure byways of Rome, ending in one of the most inspiring cemeteries in the world. There will be plenty of time for questions and comments!

Roger Aikin, PhD, is a retired professor of art history from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Roger has lived in Rome several times, and this talk is a rambling stroll of the places he has encountered in this layer-cake of a city. Roger has given many presentations for OLLI-UO on art and movies, including an examination of Jan Vermeer and Han van Meegeren as “the Master” and “the Forger.”

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Oregon (OLLI-UO) in Central Oregon invites community members to participate in our First Friday Talks in partnership with the Deschutes Public Library. OLLI-UO is an intellectual and social community of engaged adult learners, connecting members to university faculty and professionals in respective fields. A six-month or yearlong membership allows participation in a variety of lectures, courses, peer-led study and discussion groups, educational tours, field trips, and social events.
