25th Anniversary Worrell Wayside Park Celebration

September 24, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Worrell Wayside County Park was designated an official County Park on September 24, 1997 for public purposes to be retained in public ownership and managed to the extent feasible for the enhancement of public access and recreation.

On January 24, 2022 the current County Commission decided to redevelop Worrell Wayside into a 68 space parking lot in a 2-1 vote.  Patti Adair voted to retain the park, Phil Chang and Tony DeBone voted to redevelop it by blowing up the lava flow and flattening it into a paved parking lot with islands of vegetation.

Let’s celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Worrell Wayside and speak out to the importance of keeping our PARK in the heart of downtown Bend.  This PARK is not an option for a parking lot. Join us near the entrance to the County Administration Building, 1236 NW Wall, Bend Refreshments and Speakers to begin at 2pm

Patti Adair, County Commissioner (It’s a PARK)

Derek Loeb, Geologist (It’s a monumental lava flow)

Nathan Hovekamp, BPRD Board (It’s important open space)

Vanessa Ivey, Deschutes Historical Museum (It’s our history)

Green Leadership Coalition (It’s our future)

Open Mic
