Project Wildfire Meeting
Project Wildfire's mission is to prevent deaths, injuries, property loss, and environmental damage resulting from wildfires in Deschutes County. It does this by
- Developing long-term wildfire prevention and education strategies designed to reach an ever-changing community.
- Creating disaster-resistant communities through collaboration with community members and a network of specialized partners.
- Mitigating the severity and amount of damage caused by wildfire in wildland-urban interface (WUI) areas through hazardous fuels reduction programs.
- Reducing the impact of fuels reduction on the environment by recycling the woody biomass resulting from hazardous fuels reduction projects.
The steering committee is comprised of up to 27 people from various agencies, higher education, and the private sector. Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and topics vary.
