Join us for a panel discussion and Q&A with local environmental organizations Think Wild, The Environmental Center, and Deschutes River Conservancy. Leaders from each group will share:
Their conservation efforts and how their work impacts the region and greater community;
Thoughts on the largest issues for the environment in Central Oregon;
How the public can help and upcoming Earth Day opportunities.
This event will be moderated by Cascades Academy Head of School, Julie Amberg. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is available on our website.

The Deschutes River Conservancy: Kate Fitzpatrick, Executive Director
The Deschutes River Conservancy is a non-profit organization with the mission to restore streamflow and improve water quality in the Deschutes basin. Founded in 1996 as a collaborative, multi-stakeholder organization, the DRC's Board of Directors makes decisions by consensus and is comprised of key public and private interests including farming, ranching, timber, development, hydro-power, recreation, tribes, and environment.
Think Wild: Sally Compton, Executive Director
Think Wild is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in Bend, Oregon with the mission to inspire the High Desert community to care for and protect native wildlife through rescue & rehabilitation, outreach/education and conservation. Think Wild seeks to reduce the incidents of human/wildlife conflict between humans and wildlife through prevention education. When conflicts do occur, Think Wild provides veterinary treatment and care at its Erickson Road hospital currently underway, and designed to minimize treatment and recovery stress.
The Environmental Center: Mike Riley, Executive Director
Thirty years ago, The Environmental Center was born to inspire locals to live lighter on the planet and to preserve the spectacular landscape of Central Oregon. It is a regional hub of environmental education, engagement, and action. The Environmental Center advances a healthy, vibrant place to live, work and play – for all of us today and for future generations to inherit. Their team works alongside people of all ages, local businesses, and elected officials to create and advocate for meaningful, lasting change that everyone can be proud of.
