Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) September 2019 - Madras

What: ASIST is a comprehensive, coordinated and integrated suicide intervention training that reflects current best-practice in suicide intervention. ASIST is the result of more than 25 years of research and development and is the most widely used suicide intervention program in the world. This is a two-day, 15 hour, interactive workshop. Learn how to recognize opportunities to help, assess risk of suicide, apply a suicide intervention model, and practice skills. For more information about ASIST, visit www.livingworks.net.  Trainers:     Cheryl Emerson, LLC, MS, NCC, LPC & Amy Baker, LCSW   Where:         Madras Performing Arts Center, 412 SE Buff St., Madras, OR 97741  When:          Thurs – Friday, September 19th and 20th, at 8:00am-4:00pm                                    **Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to park and sign-in** Registration Required: By 5pm on August 22nd. No walk-ins will be accepted. Please note: ASIST may not be approprate for everyone, as it could be a triggering environment. This training is an educational program and is not intended in any way to provide therapy to anyone who has experienced a recent loss or who is themselves at risk for suicide. Appropriateness of training attendance is at the discretion of the ASIST trainers. Cost: $150 (includes materials). The Eventbrite registration ticket will say “free” as the program is only used to manage registrations.  However, payment IS required by August 22nd.  Make payable to: Deschutes County, Attn: Jessica Jacks, 1130 NW Harriman, Suite A, P.O. Box 6005, Bend, OR 97708-6005. Cancellation notifications must be received by August 22nd, 5 p.m. for reimbursement. Failure to notify Whitney Schumacher of cancellation prior to August 22nd, 5p.m. will disqualify you for future scholarship opportunities provided by Deschutes County Prevention Program, this is applicable to ALL registrants. Scholarships: Provided to all school staff, veterans organizations and others serving vulnerable populations in the Tri-County Region. When prompted in the registration form, indicate you would like to apply for a scholarship.  (This is a reduced cost thanks to support from donations and grant funds!) Complete attendance for the full  two days is required in order to be considered ASIST trained.  It is understood that outside commitments may require an attendee to leave a few minutes early.  This can be arranged with the trainer the day of the training.   However, if early departure of more than one hour is needed, attendees  should consider either readjusting their schedule for complete attendance or to take a future training.  Full two day attendees receive a certificate of attendance and therefore, the declaration of being ASIST Trained as well as     Continuing Education Units (CEU's).      Food: Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided.
