In this two-day workshop, Raising the Bar: Equity, Technology and Striving for Excellence, participants will learn about rapid changes in technology that impact students and examine equity practices from the school communicators perspective. Thursday keynote: Dr. Jon Landis, the U.S. Education Development Executive with Apple, will delve into the topic of technology and its impact on students, through an equity lens. Tech affects and empowers students and Dr. Landis will help us understand how we can understand the challenges our students face while striving for more. Friday keynote: Heidi Vega, Director of Communications for the Arizona School Board Association and VP for diversity engagement with NSPRA, is a powerhouse speaker whose passion is equity. She will focus on equity through a communication lens as we examine our districts' brands and learn how to create messaging that reflects our organizations’ commitment to all students. Other speakers/topics: Carol Fenstermacher, NSPRA President, will share 10 Things I Learned in School PR Ginger McCall, Oregon's first public records advocate, will dive into the law and school communications as it relates to public records.
