Deschutes National Forest Volunteer Information Night - Winter Programs
The Deschutes National Forest in partnership with Discover Your Forest is hosting a Volunteer Information Night on Thursday, October 18th, 2018 to offer information to members of the public interested in assisting with educational programs at Mt. Bachelor and other locations on the Forest.
The Volunteer Information Night will be held on October 18th, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Deschutes National Forest headquarters, 63095 Deschutes Market Road in Bend. The event is focused on recruiting volunteers to serve as winter interpretive rangers and winter conservation education rangers; however individuals interested in other volunteer opportunities are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Volunteer Rangers will represent the U.S. Forest Service at Mt. Bachelor. Programs taking place this winter include: Ski or Snowboard with a FS Interpretive Ranger, Snowshoe with a FS Interpretive Ranger, our youth education based programs Project S.N.O.W, Jr. Snow Ranger, and Snow Science. Duties include delivering mile long snowshoe tours or skiing/snowboarding blue ski runs while providing formal interpretive talks. Volunteers are provided uniforms and training and should be willing to wear appropriate gear and have the physical ability to ski or snowboard two runs daily or snowshoe one mile twice daily.
