Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) October 2018
What: ASIST is a comprehensive, coordinated and integrated suicide intervention training that reflects current best-practice in suicide intervention. ASIST is the result of more than 25 years of research and development and is the most widely used suicide intervention program in the world. This is a two-day, 15 hour, interactive workshop. Learn how to recognize opportunities to help, assess risk of suicide, apply a suicide intervention model, and practice skills. For more information about ASIST, visit www.livingworks.net. Please note: ASIST may not be approprate for everyone, as it could be a triggering environment. This training is an educational program and is not intended in any way to provide therapy to anyone who has experienced a recent loss or who is themselves at risk for suicide. Appropriateness of training attendance is at the discretion of the ASIST trainers. Cost: $150 (includes materials). The Eventbrite registration ticket will say “free” as the program is only used to manage registrations. However, payment IS required. Cancellation notifications must be received October 18th, 5 p.m. for reimbursement. Registration is still required. When prompted in the registration form, indicate you would like to apply for a scholarship. (This is a reduced cost thanks to support from donations and grant funds!) Complete attendance for the full two days is required in order to be considered ASIST trained. It is understood that outside commitments may require an attendee to leave a few minutes early. This can be arranged with the trainer the day of the training. However, if early departure of more than one hour is needed, attendees should consider either readjusting their schedule for complete attendance or to take a future training. Full two day attendees receive a certificate of attendance and therefore, the declaration of being ASIST Trained as well as Continuing Education Units (CEU's). Food: Morning coffee and morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. However, lunch is on your own.
