ARCHAEOLOGY AND SCIENCE AT THE PAISLEY CAVES
Dr. Dennis Jenkins, Senior Research Archaeologist II for the Museum of Natural and Cultural History at the University of Oregon, comes to Central Oregon to discuss exciting evidence suggesting that people lived in the Paisley Caves as early as the Late Pleistocene. He will share a colorful Powerpoint presentation and explain the scientific processes and results of archaeological and paleogenetic investigations at the Paisley Caves, bringing the audience the most up-to-date information about the evidence for the pre-Clovis interaction of humans in Oregon’s high desert country some 12,000 to 14,500 years ago.
Dr. Jenkins received his PhD from the University of Oregon in 1991. He has taught and directed the UO’s annual Northern Great Basin archaeological field school in Central Oregon since 1989. He has made 12 appearances in television documentaries and presented over 70 papers at professional conferences.
